Spring Brunch Hairstyles

Planning on celebrating Mother’s Day at brunch with the family or embracing this beautiful AZ Spring with a weekend brunch with friends? Head over to the blog where Chris Knudsen, owner of Mane Attraction Salon, shares a few at home styling tips to embrace your natural texture, and tips on how to effortlessly elevate your hair style for a special occasion like a weekend brunch.

I would always suggest working with your natural hair texture not against it. A great style always starts with a great haircut so make sure to visit your stylist at Mane Attraction Salon to keep your hair cut fresh. We have never met a client that asks for more maintenance at home. Every style should fall into place based on your bone structure, growth patterns, texture and desired look. However, there are ways to shift it up for special occasions. For example, your natural part can work with you or against you depending on your desired look. If you want more volume part the opposite way to utilize that cowlick and turn up the volume. If you want a sleeker look go with the flow and don’t fight it. Your stubborn growth pattern can actually help if utilized correctly.

No one likes frizz, especially our texture clients.

For any curly types ranging from 2B curls all the way to 4C curls, the key is moisture. Make sure you are using moisturizing products like Aveda’s Nutriplenish line and a microfiber hair towel to prevent roughing the cuticle. Curly hair is more prone to frizz which can be aggravated by constantly touching or pulling on the hair strands. Whether you air dry or diffuse your hair, choose products that lock in moisture and fight frizz. Scrunch hair gently and/or create more refined ringlets with your index finger. Once your hair has dried touch up any unmanageable curls with either a curling Iron or flat Iron. Use finishing oil to tame any flyway's and add shine. Tousle and your all set. This only works if the hair cut is on point and the weight is distributed correctly based on your curl type, growth patterns, face shape, and lifestyle. Ask about color too, the right color application or in salon treatment can really help seal down your cuticle and refine your curl adding shine, vibrancy, and proven to add a little bounce in your step.

For a straight less textured look may we suggest Aveda’s Smooth Infusion line to help you create a sleek, frizz free blow dry. Our favorite styling products for this look include Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Style Prep followed by Smooth Infusion Perfect Blow Dry. Blow dry with your favorite round brush and touch up with a flat Iron for an extra sleek look. This is the look that you definitely want to go with the growth patterns. Trying to fight a natural part or a stubborn cowlick will most definitely make you late for brunch and enough stress that a second mimosa might be in order as you sit down.

Once you have styled your hair add in a statement headband, clips or tuck one side behind your ear for an easy way to elevate your daily look and you are all set to take on the Brunch scene this Mother’s Day! We love when our clients have success at home with their hair. The true value and sign of a great hair cut / color service is when you are able to replicate the look over and over with little to no stress. When you nail that look and the table immediately compliments your fab brunch style, don’t forget to tag your favorite hairdresser when you make that social media post showing off how cute you look. Share the love and seize the day.
